Nokia E75: Sliding with the business times

For business people, its important that they get their hands to their emails before anything else to update themselves on what needs to be done. Nokia hands over their latest for the E series, the E75.

Compared to the E71, the E75 is a bit more bulkier in terms of weight, not to mention that its QWERTY keypad is on slide. However, you can probably fit this better inside a pocket than the E71. The whole design is reminiscent of the N79 with the silver metal frame, the video call camera, the light sensor on top and the horizontal cutting of the keypads. The only difference is the short cut keys that are cramped up beside the 2 soft keys, as well as the receive and end/power buttons. You have the menu, shortcut, cancel, and email shortcuts. The cluttered short cut keys can be a bit of a bother since you might end up pressing the wrong key. There are also short cuts like bluetooth located on the pound and star keys.

Samsung GT-B2100 Xplorer: Tough on the outside, nothing more

Samsung has recently released the GT-B2100 Xplorer which boasts its rugged, protective materials apart from its few though attractive outdoor features. The phone’s material is made of anti-shock urethane and its carrier feature is its noise cancellation. Considering the many rugged, outdoor phones we have seen over the past few years, plus the ones with bigger and better features out in the market these days, can this outdoor phone compete and stand out?

The Xplorer, as expected, is rugged just like any other phone of its kind does. It is heavy, thick with cushioning and protective materials, and has that generic colored frame that stands out behind the all-black body.

Nokia 6700 Classic: Everything made easy

It’s obvious that we’re so done having to review so many unpleasant and plain low-end phones. Thankfully, we get to have a breath of fresh air in the form of the simplistic, yet stylish Nokia 6700 Classic.

It’s supposedly the successor for Nokia’s 6300 and it does stay true to the form, only slimmer. However, what did catch my eye is its stainless steel design. From its casing to the keypads, everything is stainless steel. While this looks perfect for an executive businessperson, the shine of the steel bothers my eyes so better get ready to be blinded every now and then. You’ll barely find anything on the side except the volume rocker keys and the shutter on the right side. The bottom has the USB connector and your battery charger.

Samsung GT-i8910 Omnia HD: High definition to the next level

A couple of years back, we opted for the light, slim and tiny types of mobile phones for us to conveniently put it in our pockets. Now, we have the touch screens where everything needs to be big from the form to the screen. It’s no surprise that companies are putting in a lot of extras on our phones, just like how Samsung did with its GT-i8910 Omnia HD.

Before we get to the HD part of this review, let’s look at the form. Aside from the huge 3.7 inch screen display, you have the CIF secondary camera for video calls, the light sensor beside it, as well as the 3 basic buttons for touch screen – call, menu, and end/power button.After comparing it to its predecessor, the Omnia i900, I can say that I’m fairly impressed since they changed the over-all look of the Omnia HD and made it more elegant.

The Samsung ST50 is 12.2 megapixel so it takes high resolution images. As wide as it scope can go when it comes to taking photos of lush landscapes and surroundings, it is also quite accurate when taking close-up shots or macro photography.

White balance is an important aspect in taking photos. For a portable digital camera, the ST50 promises accurate color temperature and white balance that is way above its standards. It actually has two fluorescent white balance selections which is ideal for shooting with daylight bulb.

Samsung GT-S3500: Meshing things together to make something familiar

With the coming and going of sophisticated phones, I’m not really sure as to why Samsung has yet another low-end up phone up its sleeves. Anyway, without further ado, here’s theSamsung GT-S3500.

For those who still remember the Samsung G810, you’ll find that the GT-S3500 looks a lot like it with the metallic design it has. However, the GT-S3500 was also modeled originally on the body of the U900 Soul. At this point, I wish that they also kept the touch pad function of the Soul because the GT-S3500 looks too plain; since its design is to be metallic, its no wonder that you’ll only get one color choice – stainless steel.

Although it does boast of a stainless steel design, upon closer inspection its only made of cheap plastic with shiny silver paint. The only stainless steel you’re going to find here is the one encasing the whole part of the directional button as well as the keypads once you slide the phone open. The keypads are surprisingly smooth and easy to press which is probably one of the high points of this phone.

Genius G-Pen M609X: Digitalizing the pen and paper

Due to the growing population of programmers and designers (not to mention that our own CgeNa lives with the help of these people), we decided to get ourselves a tablet for review this time. So here’s the Genius G-Pen M609X.

The M609X is elegantly designed with the glossy black finish surrounding the sides of the drawing table however it makes itself very vunerable to scratches. It has 5 hot keys on top and 2 black rolling pads at each corner with a button in the middle. The first three hot keys (for scrolling, zooming, and adjusting the volume) are controlled by either rolling pad. The other two hot keys (for painting and adjusting the active area of the tablet for monitor resolutions) are utilized by the cordless pen.
